1906 Wedding Party and Decorations

1906 Wedding Party with Bridal Decorations

This wedding party from 1906 consists of the bride and groom, maid-of-honor, and best man. The bride is Barbara Hally, or at least that is what was written on the back of the photo, so I don’t know if that is her maiden or married name.

Bridal Gown

Bride and Maid-of-Honor both wearing high neck dresses with long sleeves and long skirts sitting on chairs next to each other.

This picture is quite faded so it is difficult to see the details of their clothing. What I can tell you about Barbara’s dress is that it has a high neckline which was typical of that time, slightly puffy bodice, and long sleeves. She has a plain full gathered skirt that reaches to the floor, with a wide white ribbon with a decorative knot hanging down the side. This is the same kind of ribbon decoration as in the 1905 Bridal photo.

Bridal Headpiece

The bride’s headpiece is a puffy crown of gathered veil netting.

Bridesmaid

The bridesmaid also seems to be wearing a white dress, or a very pastel color. Her dress also has a high neckline, slightly puffy bodice, and long sleeves. Some kind of fabric is attached to the bodice at the top of the sleeve, extending the shoulder line. Her gathered skirt is long.

Wedding Decorations

Wedding Decoration in the Home

The reason I’ve chosen this picture to share with you is the way the room is decorated. This is a room in a house that has been decorated with faux leaves. Maybe this was an Autumn wedding, so the leaves were appropriate. So you don’t always have to decorate your wedding venue with flowers. Hope this picture gives you ideas for your own wedding.
