Bridal Gown
This happy bride and groom were married in the early 1950s. The bride’s dress reflects the fashions of that time with a close-fitting bodice, narrow waist, and full skirt. The bride’s bodice has a long sleeved, scoop neckline lace fabric on top of a white base fabric. The full long skirt has 2 different panels. On the sides are sections consisting of rows and rows of gathered sheet stiff fabric ruffles creating a frothy look. The center front and center back panels are the lace fabric again. Full skirts like this were often given their shape by “crinoline slips” which consisted of netting ruffles sewn to a net full slip. The stiff netting held out the surface fabrics.
If you have read the FREE 10 Wedding Ideas from Vintage Brides ebook, you would know that this dress is a Triangular shape. You can see how this shape compares to other bridal dress shapes in the ebook.
Bridal Headpiece & Bouquet

Our bride wears a small bridal hat made of decorations on a stiff millinery hat form. The bridal headpiece is similar to the kinds of hats worn by women every day. A mid-length veil is attached to the back of the headpiece. The bridal bouquet is 2 large orchids with several stems of smaller flowers, all held together by a large white bow.
Groom
The groom’s white jacket over black pants was a typical male look for the 1950s. The man usually wore a “cummerbund” which was a gathered fabric band above his waist.
